Course content
|
Block I: Basic terminology (health, disease, course of the disease, prognosis, symptom, syndrome). Anamnesis - personal and family, social, work. Gynecological and obstetric anamnesis. Subjective and objective symptoms, the most common symptoms of the disease. Block II: Physical examination - meaning and principles of performance. Examination by sight, palpation, percussion, auscultation. Evaluation of the physical examination. Examination of the general condition (consciousness, breathing, position, attitude, gait, constitution, nutritional status, skin). Physical examination of the head, neck and chest., abdomen, limbs, spine, lymph nodes, skin and reflexes. Block III: Examination methods, classification (laboratory, imaging, endoscopic, surgical). Block IV: Examination methods in gynecology and obstetrics. Organization of care for pregnant women and women in labor in the Czech Republic. Indicators of perinatal mortality, perinatal morbidity. Maternal mortality. Prenatal care, prenatal examination. Prenatal diagnostics of VVV. Cardiotocography. Anthropometric measurements, tools, technique and importance in obstetrics.

Learning outcomes
|
Students will acquire basic techniques of physical examination of the client/patient; they will learn gain manual skillfulness while using these techniques and they will learn to distinguish physiological findings from abnormal or pathological ones. Part of the course is comprehensive symptomatology of system illnesses and an overview of modern diagnostic and examination methods in clinical fields.
After completing the course, students will be able to distinguish pathological manifestations from physiology. They will be familiar with individual examination methods.

Prerequisites
|
Students should know basic examination methods in gynecology and obstetrics, anatomy and physiology of the female body.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam, Written exam
100% attendance at seminars and practical exercises; active participation in class; submission of a term paper on a selected topic in the event of absence. If a student misses two-thirds of the scheduled class hours, they must re-enroll in the course in the following academic year. Completion: Credit test (3 attempts), final exam.
