Explanation of the term holism. Human needs, Maslow's hierarchy of needs Algorithm of satisfying basic biological and psychosocial needs of humans. Nursing process, its phases, documentation. Diagnostics in Midwifery; NANDA International diagnostic system. Complex nursing documentation in midwifery, audit of nursing documentation.

Learning outcomes
|
The course identifies nursing and midwifery as scientific disciplines with their own philosophy, object of investigation, terminology and methodology. It introduces students to the basic division of human needs and teaches methodology of the nursing process.
Students will be able: to put current features and trends of health into a causative relation with human nursing needs; to identify both actual and potential non-saturated needs and problems connected to the illness or handicap of the patient - client; to use and create objectified methods of monitoring and documentation; to describe basic characteristics of the nursing process and to explain the significance of the particular elements; to assess, carry out and be liable for specific nursing procedures in particular parts of the nursing process; to use the taxonomy of nursing diagnoses - diagnostic systems - NANDA, IDH, NIC, NOC, ICNP and to create and carry out a long-term nursing care plan and keep daily records, to monitor the quality of the individual nursing care and be liable for it.

Prerequisites
|
100% participation in lessons, orientation in the problems of the process in midwifery.
