Course content
|
Pregnancy - definition, diagnostics, length of pregnancy, calcualtion of due date. Changes in materna organism - somatic, mental, social and spiritual. Daily regiment of a pregnant woman. Physiological labour - organization and system of work in delivery room. Care of a midwife of a woman in different times of birth. Fetus as a subject of delivery, birth mechanism. The first care of the newborn after birth. Assessment of post natal condition of the newborn.

Learning outcomes
|
Theoretical and practical training of midwives is focused to care for a woman with pfysiological pregnancy and childbirth. The course is focused on satisfying the individual needs of the pregnant woman, the quality of her life, promotion of health, and prevention of disease occurrence and complications associated with pregnancy.
Students will be able: to diagnose pregnancy and follow the principles of the nursing process during the clients´ pregnancy; to assess the uterine activity and the CTG data; to lead a physiological labor; to guide mothers through physiological deliveries and to provide first care for the infant; to satisfy individual bio-psycho-social and spiritual needs of the mothers.

Prerequisites
|
Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology and basic skills in midwifery.

Attendance in seminars and practicals. Seminar work on a given topic A separate levy of physiological birth on the tutorial model.
