Course content
|
Midwife will perform the following tasks: CPR of a child over 10 years old (or model) - Preparing a sterile table for an aseptic procedure - Airway clearance with closed suction system - Airway clearance with open suction system - Clearing the airway without tools - Clearing the airway using the laryngeal mask (possibly on the model) - Assistance in providing airway through the endotracheal cannula - Clearing the airway using the endotracheal cannula (model) - Ventilation of the patient using a bag valve mask on the model - Ventilation of the patient using a bag valve mask - Preparation of instrumentation for general anaesthesia - Preparation and assistance for general anaesthesia - Regional anaesthesia preparation and assistance (epidural, subarachnoid)

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the professional practice is to prepare a midwife to implement the theoretical knowledge for the practical handling of the highly specialized care of a child over 10 years of age in the intensive care unit of the paediatric ward, where the vital life functions fail or this risk is threatened.
Upon completion of the course students will be able to work in the department of the intensive care unit of the paediatric department.

100% participation in the whole range of practice. Writing a seminar paper on a topic related the department.
