Course content
|
The subject matter of the course consists of acute conditions in obstetrics such as placental abruption, disorders of placental expulsion, abortion, peripartal and postpartum bleeding, uterine rupture, uterine atony, uterine traumas, amniotic fluid embolism, clinical manifestations, complications. In addition, the course will focus to patients with acute conditions in pregnancy (hyperstimulation ovarian syndrome, ectopic pregnancy, preeclampsia, eclampsia, gestational diabetes mellitus, hepatopathy and coagulation disorders in pregnancy, HELLP syndrome, pregnancy hypertension, pregnancy and childbirth in HIV positive women); Clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment options, foetal effects, complications in individual conditions. The course will also discuss the issues of a female patient with a congested pregnancy, the issue of domestic violence in pregnant women. Another topic discussed will include the KTG record, overall assessment by a midwife, recognizing the physiological, suspect and pathological record and providing highly specialized midwife care in these acute conditions.

|
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the subject is to provide students with an overview of acute conditions in obstetrics with a focus on providing highly specialized care in midwifery.
Upon completion of the course students will be able to provide a highly specialized care in midwifery in specific acute conditions occurring in obstetrics.
