Balancing work and personal life to satisfy all parties involved is a never-ending process ? what suits one person need not be convenient for the couple or a family with small children; what may be applied in a small company may be difficult in a corporation; what works with certain people need not work with others. The aim of the course is to point at possibilities how to harmonize personal and professional life through social changes (e.g. changes in legislation, changes in stereotypes), company changes (e.g. introduction of flexi-time) or personal changes (e.g. higher effectiveness at shorter time at work, mental hygiene). Research shows that the balance is beneficial both for the workers as well as for his family/friends, and it often manifests also economically in the form of higher efficiency and profit.
- Students understand how to harmonize personal and professional life through changes at the personal level as well as system changes. - Making use of their knowledge, they can deal with dilemma and ethical issues in this field in an independent and creative manner. - They can suggest system changes leading to improved company staff?s quality of life.
