Theoretical part 1. Introduction to managerial psychology: a. Organizational behaviour and management. b. Organizational structure. c. Psychological contract. d. Determination of managerial psychology, its development and place among other disciplines of work and organizational psychology. 2. Management theory and managerial attitudes and psychology: a. Systems, contingency, cultural and learning organization theories. b. Subjective and objective management. 3. Managements: a. Three levels of management. b. Management typologies and styles (Friedler; Fleishman; Hersey & Blanchard; Gretz & Drozdeck, etc.). 4. Managerial activities and the role of psychology: a. Mission and Vision. b. General activities of a manager (forecast and planning, organization, command, coordination, control, etc.). c. Specific activities of a manager (selection, adaptation, evaluation, remuneration, motivation, coaching, mentoring, redefinition, dismissal, etc.). 5. Human resource management: a. An individual versus a group. b. Training. c. Delegating. d. Time-management and its support. 6. ISM, Lean management and thinking: a. 5S, Kaizen. b. Ishikawa. 7. Performance management of individuals and groups, evaluation: a. MBO. b. Balanced Score Card. c. KPI. d. Mystery Shopping. 8. Communication: a. Distribution of information, effective models of distribution. b. Meetings, e-mails, shared space, virtual space. c. Negotiations, conflicts. 9. Change management: a. Psychological aspects of a change. b. Sequence of steps. 10. Principles of managerial work and manager´s frequent mistakes Seminars: 1. Analysis of outstanding managers (S. Jobs, J. Welch, M. Kent, N. Reithofer, M. Zuckerberg). 2. Model situations. The course is innovated with new knowledge from the field of managerial psychology and related disciplines. It includes independent students? analyses management styles and psychological consequences. It is complemented with practical model situations suitable for negotiations and dealing with manipulation. The course has been innovated with the Project CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0138 Education modularization in management and psychology at the University of Palacky in Olomouc via innovation and interconnection of economic and psychological study programmes.

Learning outcomes
|
The course aims at acquainting students with the basics of managerial psychology as a discipline dealing with encounters of managing and managed employees in the context of their personalities, managerial process and activities in the working environment. Apart from the acquisition of basic knowledge, the course makes students capable of analyzing different management styles. It provides a fundamental insight into the psychological issue of managing small and big teams. solution
Student: - drafts an effective model of general distribution of information. - analyzes management styles on the grounds of observation and analysis of spoken and written sources. - asserts negotiation methods.
