Course content
1. Definition of family psychology, goals, perspectives, and areas of application 2. Systems approach to the family, models of family functioning, family functionality 3. Theories of family stress and its coping 4. Family resiliency 5. Family crisis 6. Forms of current families 7. Work - life balance and roles conflict 8. Study of different types of parenting and families: Same-sex families 9. Methodological particularities in family research 10. Principles of family assessment 11. Clinical methods in family assessment 12. Tests in family assessment

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)
  • Attendace - 24 hours per semester
  • Homework for Teaching - 5 hours per semester
  • Semestral Work - 12 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Exam - 34 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
To acquaint students with current approaches in family psychology, research and diagnostic methods. Knowledge of families is an essential prerequisite of effective assistance in family counseling, family therapy and psychological work with families in general. New lectures on work - life balance and roles conflict and also on families of homosexual parents are included.
Competence to see the family from the systems approach point of view, good orientation in the issue of family functioning.
Prerequisites
Passing Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Clinical Psychology.
