The lectures are led in blocks; each consists of introduction to theoretical background and seminar part with model situations and work in groups. The topics of theoretical part: 1. Leader emergence - trait´s approach to personality f. Leader emergence - competence approach to personality g. Leader emergence - developmental approach to personality h. Psychodiagnostics methods 2. Leadership effectiveness: styles a. Role of manager b. Future - Engage - Deliver c. Typologies of management styles (Friedler; Fleishman; Hersey & Blanchard; Gretz & Drozdeck, etc.). d. LMX 3. Leadership effectiveness: level of individuals a. Psychological contract b. Stressors, burnout syndrome and internal resignation c. Motivation d. Engagement 4. Leadership effectiveness: levels of team and organization a. Work group, group dynamics in management and leadership b. Team in management and leadership c. Virtual teams d. Belbin´s roles, Sociomapping, TeamUp e. Organizational clima and culture 5. Leadership effectiveness: special topics a. Authority nad power of leader b. Negotiation c. Process of delegating d. Change management Seminars: 1. Model situations. 2. Work in groups with following discussion and feedback.

Learning outcomes
|
The course aims at acquainting students with the basics of the psychology of leadership as a discipline dealing with encounters of managing and managed employees in the context of their personalities, managerial process, and activities in the working environment. Apart from the acquisition of basic knowledge, the course makes students capable of analyzing different management styles. It provides a fundamental insight into the psychological issue of managing small and big teams.
Student: - can define the discipline of managerial psychology; - can explain major theories of managerial psychology, management styles, and typologies; - can define managerial activities and methods of influencing employees from the point of view of managerial psychology; - analyzes management styles on the grounds of observation and analysis of spoken and written sources; - solves specific requirements of the managerial consultancy in the field of management and leading of individuals, groups, teams, and organizations; - deals with aimed interventions for support of manager´s outcomes in management and leading of individuals, groups, teams, and organizations. - educates managers in psychological principles of everyday managerial practice.

|
Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student
1. Active participation in the blocks (participation in exercises, participation in discussions). 2. One of the following: - a 60% test (50 multiple-choice questions) or - a text from the field of managerial psychology on a given topic.
