1. Introduction - course organization, basic terms and concepts of cultural anthropology 2. Anthropological research - qualitative and quantitative research, ethnography 3. Anthropological research - research process, analysis options, research ethics 4. Culture and nature - subsistence systems, ecological anthropology today 5. Linguistic anthropology - language development, linguistic relativism, non-verbal communication 6. Religion, ritual, myth - rite of passage, liminality, modern myths 7. Identity in anthropology - ethnicity, gender 8. Identity in anthropology - subcultures 9. Political anthropology - cooperation and conflict, postcolonialism, globalization 10. Digital anthropology - social networks, digital technologies, the relationship between the digital and the physical 11. Cognitive anthropology - metaphor, cognitive frameworks, embodiment 12. Embodied experience and immersive VR - space and social context of technology

Learning outcomes
|
The course introduces students to the basic concepts, themes, and approaches of the field of cultural anthropology. Through lectures and discussions of texts (and other relevant media) in seminars, students will be trained in ethnographic methods, questions of identity, and anthropological approaches to technology. During the seminars, students will evaluate materials related to the aforementioned topics, thereby deepening their knowledge of the issues and cultivating their critical thinking. During the seminars, students will also develop their rhetorical and discussion skills.
Students will gain an orientation in individual anthropological concepts, anthropological subdisciplines, and ethnographic research design. They will be familiar with current topics and trends in the field and its possible overlaps.
