1. Object of study in psychology from the point of view of its main perspectives. Fundamental psychological concepts and categories. Mental representations 2. Consciousness and its functions. Sleeping and dreaming, stages of sleep, the interpretation of dreams 3. Attention, its types and functions 4. Sensory processes 5. Perception I: Perceptual organization and objects recognition 6. Perception II: Perceiving depth, size, and movement. Priming 7. Learning I: Basic types of learning (habituation, sensitisation, imprinting. Classical conditioning 8. Learning II. Instrumental conditioning, insight, observational learning 9. Memory. The phases of memory, cognitive models of memory 10.Forgetting, childhood amnesia, constructive memory 11.Imagination, cognitive and psychodynamic theories 12.Thinking - introduction. Functions, kinds and forms of thinking. Concepts. Algorithmic and heuristic operations, reasoning, decision making 13.Problem solving. Expertise and creativity 14.Language and thought. Basic linguistic concepts, signs, symbols and meanings. Linguistic relativity hypothesis 15.Motivation I: Basic survival motives: Hunger, thirst, sexual and parental motives. Drives and instincts 16.Motivation II: Stimulus motivation 17.Motivation III: Broad motivation theories (Freud, Murray, Maslow).
