Course content
1. Developmental psychology: definition, goals, application possibilities, historical overview and notable personalities of developmental psychology 2. The concept of development, basic forms of development, factors of development, principles of development 3. Classical theories of development (Freud, Piaget, Erikson etc.) 4. Contemporary theoretical approaches (life-span and ecosystem concepts) 5. Methods, research strategies and ethics in research 6. Plasticity of development, concept of resilience 7. Prenatal period and delivery, its importance for further development, new approaches 8. New-born period 9. Premature and immature children: specific problems, support of parents 10. Infancy: development of basic processes, abilities and skills 11. Toddler period: developmental trends 12. Basic psychic needs of children and importance of their fulfillment 13. Characteristics of pre-school age 14. Psychological problems of children entering school, developmental aspects of maturity for school 15. Children's drawing: developmental phases, importance of children's drawing in psychodiagnostics of children 16. Psychology of children's play: theory, classification, use in diagnostics and psychotherapy 17. Younger school age: characteristics, specifics 18. Adolescence: terminology and periodization, changes of historical view of adolescence 19. Psychological characteristics of partial stages of adolescence and main developmental changes 20. Personality development in adolescence, personal identity development, process of individualization 21. Cognitive, moral and spiritual development in adolescence 22. Social and emotional development of adolescents 23. Young adulthood, concept of emerging adulthood 24. Partner relations in young adulthood 25. Marriage 26. Parenting 27. Learning outcomes
Examine the student's knowledge of developmental psychology.
The student knows the developmental specifics of all ages from the prenatal period to the end of life. He / she understands the changes of human psyche and behaviour within the lifespan development. He / she is familiar with theoretical concepts and research approaches, reflects ethical aspects of research in developmental psychology. He / she is able to justify the importance of developmental, processual and systemic approach to human being in psychological practice.
