Learning outcomes
|
In this discipline students learn the basics of the qualitative approach in human science, philosophical roots of this approach and differences from the quantitative approach. They will also be introduced to the problem of non-probabilistic selections, the most widely used qualitative designs (case studies, evaluation, content analysis, grounded theory etc.), qualitative methods for collecting and creating of data (interview,focus group, observation, etc.) and qualitative-oriented researcher's position in relation to the concept of validity. Competences: Knowledge after completing the course: Students will know basic concepts, definitions of qualitative research and its discourse. Students will understand qualitative design and basic qualitative methods. Students will understand methods of selection of respondents for a qualitative research. Skills after completing the course: Students will understand and employ basic qualitative methods of collecting data. Students will individually process and analyze qualitative data. Students will execute a basic quality orientated research.

This subject is compulsory (category A) Prerequisites: ZM1B, ZM2B, KMB, EM1B. Requirements: A course of A type ended with an exam comprising of: A) test (30 questions/60 points), questions of different forms; a correct (complete) answer = 2 points; wrong (incomplete) answer = 0 points; B) participation in a project; group evaluation; 100-90% = 40 points; 89-80% = 35 points; 79-50% = 20 points and 49-0% = 0 points; I cross out one best and one worst result; C) maximum of two absences (max. 20 %) Evaluation: A = min. 95 points B = min. 90 points C = min. 85 points D = min. 80 points E = min. 70 points F = min. 69 points Test: Technical information, knowledge of basic literature Technical information, knowledge acquired in the lectures Deadlines: basic concepts, history and possibilities of use of qualitative research and research plan, preparation and the process of research, selection methods of research files methods of collecting data I methods of collecting data II methods of collecting data III methods of collecting data IV methods of processing qualitative data methods of analyzing qualitative data content and narrative analysis, managed theory validity and methods of checking it

Students will study the compulsory literature and ppt presentation of lectures. The course will end with a final graded examination in a form of written test that will verify both the knowledge and practical skills gained in subject.
