Přednášející: The workshop will be lead by Kateřina Lukavská, Ph.D. Katerina is a researcher at First Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Education of Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. Her background is in psychology and special education. Her research activities center around screen media use in children and adolescents. She focuses on the role of parents in the children's excessive and problematic media use. She has been principal investigator of several scientific projects in this area. She has participated in the international projects on the addictive behaviors such as gaming disorder and problematic pornography use. She is also involved in the effort to improve school-based prevention of excessive and problematic screen media use. Abstrakt: The workshop will focus on the methodology of Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs). It will cover the essentials of experimental designs, highlighting the defining features of RCTs. Participants will gain insights into the theoretical underpinnings and receive hands-on guidance on designing RCTs. The session aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of RCTs, from concept to execution, to support the development of rigorous experimental research skills. Workshop consists of two parts. Part 1 is dedicated to introducing of key concepts related to RCT design such as PICO principle, randomization and attrition. After the intital introduction by a lecturer, participants will be divided into two groups and provided with relevant texts which they will study and use them to prepare presentation for the second group. The preparation of the presentation will be guided by pre-prepared roadmap and specific questions and supervised by a lecturer. Part 2 focuses on the development of practical skills designing RCTs. Usign AI, we will create and critically evaluate the design of RCT assessing the intervention aimed at enhancing the mental health in youth.
