Course content
Circuits for exam in Clinical psychology in Doctoral Study Program. The circuits are valid for both first and final exam. (The first exam - two circuits, the final state doctoral exam - further one circuits). a) Psychopathology (MUDr. PhDr. Miroslav Orel, Ph.D.) ACUTE CONDITIONS IN PSYCHOPATHOLOGY 1) issues of suicidal behavior (definitions and types of suicide, principles of approach to a person with suicidal tendencies) 2) problems of acute psychotic states (basic characteristics, symptoms and forms, solutions from the position of a psychologist) 3) problems of severe mood disorders (basic characteristics, symptoms and forms, solutions from the position of a psychologist) 4) problems of withdrawal and delirium (basic characteristics, symptoms and forms, solutions from the position of a psychologist) 5) problems of escalation of anxiety (basic characteristics, symptoms and forms, solutions from the position of a psychologist) b) Psychology of health and disease (Mgr. Martin Kupka, Ph.D.) 1. Basic psychosomatic concepts - specific, non-specific, borderline. 2. Theoretical concepts of health and disease - basic models (biomedical, psychological, sociological, holistic). 3. Crisis intervention after communication of a serious diagnosis. 4. Problems of acute and chronic diseases. 5.Psychological approaches to managing acute and chronic pain. 6. Problems of dying - accompanying a dying person, work with mourning. 7. Problems of diseases of civilization and issues of prevention. 8. Problems of resilience and the importance of social support. c) Child clinical psychology (PhDr. Leona Jochmannová, Ph.D.) 1. Stages of child development, their specifics in terms of clinical practice. 2.Disorders of psychological development in childhood and adolescence,major changes in the classification of DSM-5 and ICD-11 compared to ICD-10. 3. A child with a disability and his family. Chronically ill children.Child and pain. 4.Problems of trauma in children, developmental and complex trauma. 5.The importance of attachment, the psychological needs of the child and the consequences of their deprivation.Residential care. Substitute family care (with an emphasis on particular forms of foster care).

Learning outcomes
Circuits for exam in Clinical psychology in Doctoral Study Program. The circuits are valid for both first and final exam. (The first exam - two circuits, the final state doctoral exam - further one circuits. a) Psychopathology (MUDr. PhDr. Miroslav Orel, Ph.D.) Circuits for exam. Etiology of mental disorders. Symptomatology and syndromology of mental disorders. Disorders of partial mental functions (with an emphasis on disorders of consciousness, perception, emotionality, thinking, memory, personality, will, and psychomotorics). Diagnostic system ICD-10 and DSM-5, their differences, the concept of multiaxial diagnostics. The diagnostic criteria of particular mental disorders. Acute conditions in psychiatry. Contemporary system of care for mentally ill. Possibilities of biological treatment of mental illnesses, pitfalls and limits of biological treatment. Psychopharmacology, the distribution of psychotropic drugs, desirable and undesirable effects and indications of particular drug groups. b) Psychology of health and disease (Mgr. Martin Kupka, Ph.D.) Circuits for exam. Psychosomatic concepts, psychosomatic disorders in various fields of medicine, theoretical concepts of health and disease, protective factors, health problems, both acute and chronic illness, disability issues, pain, aging and dying. The issue of disability and strategies of examination for court purposes. The concept of alexithymia, the issue of lifestyle diseases, stress management, issues of prevention. c) Child clinical psychology (PhDr. Leona Jochmanová, PhD.) Circuits for exam. Stages of child development, their specifics in terms of clinical practice. Disorders of psychological development in childhood and adolescence,major changes in the classification of DSM-5 and ICD-11 compared to ICD-10. A child with a disability and his family. - Student is familiar on superior level with the systems of classification of mental disorders. - Student can compare the systems ICD-10 and DSM-IV - Student is familiar on superior level with principes of selected psychodiagnostc methods - ROR, TAT, MMPI-II, WAIS-III and others. - Student is able on superior level to integrate data from psychodiagnostic assesment in clinical psychology - Studnet is familiar with limits of diagnostic assesment. - Student is well-known in directions in psychotherapy and research in psychotherapy. - Student is well-known in research in clinical psychology, is able to design research study. - Student is familiar on superior level with developmental theories and psychology of health and disease. - Student understand the ethical issues in clinical psychology and research.
Prerequisites
Completed Mgr. study in psychology. Ph.D. student.

Oral exam

1) Studium of selected topics from clinical psychology (see sylabus) 2) Participation in lectures on selected topics. 3) Oral examination.
