Course content
|
The main objective of special pathology is the study of structural and functional changes of cells, tissues and organs that underlie diseases, with great emphasis on diseases of head and neck. Diseases of all other systems are also included, among them diseases of cardiovascular, hematopoietic, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, reproductive, endocrine and nervous system, diseases of breast, skin, bones and muscles, as well as diseases of infancy and childhood.

Learning outcomes
|
The main aim is basic orientation in special pathology focused on oral pathology in the range essential for stomatologists. Acquaintance with morphological correlates of organ and histological changes.
The student will be able to implement knowledge into consecutive clinical subjects. New information has contribution to summary of diseases that can have also extraoral manifestation.

Knowledges from general pathology and basics from preclinical dentistry.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Mark, Oral exam, Written exam
Attendance to practical seminars is compulsory! The required attendance to practical seminars - a student is allowed to miss maximum one seminar. Students' preparedness for seminars will be continuously tested orally or written. Succesfull passing of the test = minimal 75% of correct answers is required. Unprepared students will be excluded from seminars. If a student fails to attend classes due to health or other serious reasons, they must attend substitute classes provided they have provided a satisfactory excuse. A maximum of two practical seminars may be made up for. Whether the reason stated is serious enough and excusable shall be determined by the respective teacher. Exam: test = minimal 75% of correct answers is required, 2 slides, 3 questions (general pathology, systemic pathology, oncology)
