Course content
The course includes a total of 27 hours, of which 5 contact and 22 non-contact hours. Defining the main topics of the subject: - characteristics of nursing as a discipline, - historical development of nursing in the world and in the Czech Republic - philosophy of nursing science, holism - subject of nursing, methodology in nursing - standardized nursing terminology - recipient of nursing care, needs, environment - conceptual model review - functions and tasks of modern nursing

Learning outcomes
The subject focuses on nursing discipline as a system of modern science, which is defined by its own holistic philosophy with the system of values, subject of research, theoretical models, conceptual apparatus - nursing standardized terminology and classification systems and scientific methodologies. The content of the subject is an overview of the development of nursing in the historical context in the world and in the Czech Republic, by defining the basic notions of nursing practice, especially the method of nursing care - the nursing process. In the context of improving the efficiency of health systems and ensuring the quality of care for population health, the subject acquaints with the current and current trends and the main tasks and functions of nursing in society.
After completing the course the student is able to: - characterize nursing as a discipline, - to describe the historical development of nursing in the world and in the Czech Republic - to apply holism as a philosophy of nursing - eliminate subject and methods of nursing - characterize standardized nursing terminology - to defend the functions and tasks of modern nursing - apply the phases of the nursing process in practice"
