Course content
The total scope of the course is 35 hours, of which 20 hours are contact and 15 hours are non-contact. Research in radiology - aims, characteristics and significance of research, its types. Phases of research process Quantitative research - research characteristics research, sample selection, data gathering and processing techniques Qualitative research - research characteristics, features, sample selection, organisation and techniques Selection and formulation of research problem, methods in a quantitative research Validity and reliability Presentation of research results in radiology Ethical principles in research The methods of instrument translation Grant agencies Evidence-based practice

Learning outcomes
The course introduces student to the research process in health care professions, its characteristics and types. It describes each phase and step of research project from the initial conceptual phase to planning, empirical and analytical phase and finally dissemination phase. It outlines main types of research designs and methods, ethical dimensions and discusses ethical problems of research in the context of health care, mainly radiology. It also describes the methods of instrument translation for research and subsequent clinical practice. It describes the principle aspects of evidence based practice.
After completion, student will: - know each phase of research project - be able to work out research project proposal - understand ethical problems of research in the area of health care - be able to present research results - be able to apply steps of research project in writing his/her thesis - be able to describe the methods of instrument translation - be able to describe the grant agencies for the support of research - be able to describe the principles of evidence based practice
