Course content
|
The total scope of the subject is 26 hours, of which 10 are contact and 16 non-contact. Specification of main topics of the course: - Diabetes mellitus, classification, diagnosis, screening, therapy DM I. and II. type - Complications of DM - acute, chronic, metabolic syndrome - Specifics of nursing care of patients with diabetes: assessment and diagnosis of needs diabetic patient, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for diabetic I. and II. type with a view to the prevention of complications, diabetic education, self-monitoring, self-management - Specifics of nursing care for diabetic patients in the perioperative period - Specifics of nursing care for pregnant women with DM - Specifics of nursing care in child diabetics

Learning outcomes
|
The subject is a part of clinical nursing. It focuses on the assessment and diagnosis of the needs of patients with chronic disease diabetes mellitus, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care in diabetology with respect to its multidisciplinary aspects. It underlines the modern approach and focus on care in self-management and selfmonitoring.
Students will be able to use their knowledge and skills to provide professional and individualized nursing care for patients with diabetes mellitus.
