Course content
Course topics: - Palliative care - definition according to WHO, EAPC - General and specialized palliative care - Multidisciplinary team of palliative care providers - Dignity and quality of life in the terminal phase of life - Nursing issues of symptoms in palliative care - The nursing process in the terminally ill patient - The burden of carers in palliative care - Issues of caregivers in palliative care

Learning outcomes
The course focuses on the provision of palliative care to children and adults in health care settings, hospices and the home environment. It focuses on the individual needs of seriously and chronically ill children and adults in the terminal phase from a biological, psychological, social and spiritual perspective. The care emphasizes an understanding of the concept of hospice care to enable patients to die with dignity, reconciliation and a peaceful death at the end of life.

Participation in classes, analysis of case studies, and development of nursing documentation for a patient in palliative care.
