Course content
Concept of gerontology, institutional and ambulatory geriatric care, physiology and theory of ageing, medical history, physical and objective examination in geriatrics, particularities of old age diseases, microsymptomatology, polymorbidity, most common syndromes and diseases of old age, effective pharmacotherapy in old age, selected chapters from specialized gerontology, dementia, incontinence, rehabilitation process in geriatrics, geriatric nursing, home care and follow-up care, practical demonstration on geriatric ward.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the course students will: know the concept of geriatrics and its prognostic importance; know the characteristics and particularities of the old age; be acquainted with the characteristics of old age illnesses; know the particularities of pharmacotherapy in the old age; master the nursing approach to a geriatric patient.
Students will be prepared for professional work with geriatric patients.
