Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to equip graduates with the concepts and knowledge in the field of spectacle technology. The course primarily focuses on the technological and technical aspects of spectacle frames and their components (terminology, historical context, materials, handling), spectacle lenses (materials, optical design, applications in refractive error correction and aesthetics), and the devices used in spectacle technology. An integral part of the curriculum is also understanding the interaction between spectacle frames and lenses from both a technical and practical perspective, including lens centration and selecting an appropriate combination for a given prescription and the wearer's needs.
The student acquires theoretical knowledge in the field of production of the correction with eyewear frames. By completing the subject, the student is prepared for the follow-up subject OPT/PBT - practicum in spectacles technology.
