Course content
Main topics of the subject: - Concepts of Information Technology (computer hardware, operating systems, computer and file management, learning support software) - MS Windows environment (work with files, file managers, file conversions, secure backup, automatic storage, data carriers) - Working with a text editor (work environment and its configuration, fonts, font installation and use, templates and styles predefined and created by the user, content generating, comments, hyperlinks, tables) - Working with a spreadsheet editor (work environment and its configuration, data entry, work with blocks, cell addressing format, formulas and functions) - Presentation using ICT (working with charts, 2D, 3D charts, chart editing, pictures) - Computer networks (computer networks: distribution and characterization, IS UP services, electronic mail, www service, computer viruses and antivirus protection, study resources on the Internet, overview of portals and databases on the subject of the field)

Learning outcomes
The course helps to obtain practical skills and knowledge from the field of informatics necessary for the study and performance of the paramedic profession. The aim of the subject is to provide students with the widest overview from the field of modern information and communication technologies in the studied area. The practical skills of the students in the area of personal computer science are developed in the exercises. There is a great emphasis placed on mastering the issue of working with a personal computer, working in the LAN computer networks, on applications for personal computer MS Office support (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook) and the use of Internet capabilities and services in processing of assigned topics of seminar papers during the course of study.
Students will acquire theoretical and practical skills in orientation in the field using modern means of communication.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge on PC.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance

The requirements to complete the subject are: 90% participation in the exercise, seminar work and presentation on the chosen topic. The student will be given the task to process the relevant topic related to the studied field. In the scope of seminar work (10-15 pages), the student will demonstrate working skills with text and spreadsheet editor. The student assigns the given task in written form together with a presentation in PowerPoint. Approval of the written part and presentation on the formal, content and professional form is a necessary condition of acceptance of the student for the credit.
