Course content
Content - fitness swimming - elements of self-rescue - jump into the unknown water - immersion in water, orientation and swimming underwater - immersion in greater depth - modified swimming methods - helping a tired swimmer - positioning of the drowning man - manipulation with the drowning man in various ways - safe pulling out of the water - elements of self-defence in an emergency situation - theoretical notes to first aid in drowning

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is develop and improve swimming technique and modified swimming methods with regard to the rescue of the drowning man, to learn how to provide first aid to the drowning man with regard to own safety and to manage the rescue complex: jump into the unknown water, approaching the drowning man, holding in water and pulling out of the water. Students will also learn to organize the cooperation of teams, to evaluate a complicated or dangerous situation and quickly decide how to resolve the rescue action in the water.
Eligibility - development of physical fitness - improvement of swimming technique - improvement of modified swimming methods with a view to rescuing the drowning man - managing the jump technique into an unknown water - the ability to help a tired swimmer - approaching the drowning man and manipulation with him in various ways - safe pulling out of the water - providing first aid in drowning - immersion in water, ability to orientate underwater - development of assumptions in teamwork

Adequate medical condition enabling increase in physical performance, physical and mental fitness.

Student performance

Requirements Swimming test: - 200 m freestyle: limit men 3:30 min., women 4:00 min. - 20 m under water The rescue complex: jump into the unknown water, approaching the drowning man, positioning of the drowning man, dragging in water and pulling out of the water, diving and catching the object
