Course content
Basic information on the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases: lung cancer, tuberculosis, the COPD, bronchial asthma, infectious pulmonary inflammation, urgent disease states (pneumothorax, atelectasis, chest injury, and haemoptysis). History of pulmonology, anamnesis and symptoms of lung diseases. Fundamental examination methods in pulmonology (physical, x-ray, microbiological and isotopic examinations). Special examination methods in pulmonology (bronchology and cytology). Spirometry and other functional tests. Respiratory insufficiency. Tuberculosis. The COPD and non-allergic diseases of the bronchi. Pleural syndrome, haemoptysis, the SAS and other pulmonary syndromes. Pneumonia and other infectious inflammations. Interstitial lung processes (fibrosis, pneumoconiosis). Sarcoidosis. Pulmonary carcinoma, mesothelioma, mediastinal tumors, secondary lung tumors. Bronchial asthma.

Learning outcomes
Information about modern pneumology focused on the needs and requirements of respiratory rehabilitation.
Students will be informed about basic respiratory symptoms and they will understand principles of specialized diagnostic and therapeutic methods. They will be able to perform specific physiotherapy in the patients with respiratory diseases.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

Mark, Oral exam

Sufficient attendance and verification of knowledge in form of oral examination.
