Course content
The lectures follow up "CBL 1". The main group of natural and synthetic compounds affecting CNS, compounds affecting vegetative nervous system, analgesics, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, antiinfective drugs etc. Relations between structure in pharmacological groups and also relations between structure and biological activity in an individual group (for example in group of barbiturates, quinolinones, sulfonamides and so on). Adverse effect of drugs and possibilities of their modification by structural changes will be also discussed (for example terfenadine, thalidomide). In this subject also synthesis or isolation of drugs from natural sources, economical and historical aspects of individual compounds or groups of compounds will be mentioned. Also new synthetic methods of new molecules (like combinatorial chemistry), basic legislative in the research and production of drugs will be lectured.
