Learning outcomes
The Praxeology of Community Interpreting seminar provides an overview of practical issues related to the performance of the community interpreter profession. Among other things, students will be familiar with the terminology of community-based interpreting in different languages, the psychological characteristics or skills that a community interpreter should possess and the role he/she plays in an interpreting interaction. In this context, we continue to deal with the rules of the interpreting process, but also with the various professional associations and organizations that are related to community interpreting. Particular attention is paid to community interpreting in Belgium and the Netherlands and Central Europe. Furthermore, we focus on the ethical code of community interpreters. The seminar is concluded with evaluation and repetition of the subject matter.
