Course content
The course is devoted to modern trends (new themes and new ways of writing) in the Dutch literature, including the influence of computer, digital media and new communication forms in Dutch literary practice in recent decades. Other topics are literary description and analysis in digital and traditional form. The course will focus on postmodern trends in this literature as well as how digitization has changed the appearance and functioning of literary life in the Netherlands and Flanders in recent decades. Thanks to this, not only literary criticism, but also the relationship of literature to other arts changed. Course schedule: Week 1) General introduction; Week 2) Migrants in literature; Week 3) Migrants as authors; Week 4) Tolerance after "September 11"; Week 5) Gender and new types of relationships; Week 6) Literary creation by computer; Week 7) Literature on the Internet; Week 8) Internet as a forum for literary criticism; Week 9) Continuation of old forms of literature - novel; Week 10) Jogging and slam-poetry; Week 11) Word and image; Week 12) Word and music; Week 13) Recapitulation. For operational reasons, the course is taught in 6 larger blocks.
