Course Schedule: 1st Week) Roman Period; Week 2) Franconian period and the Carolingians; Week 3) High Middle Ages; Week 4) The period of Burgundy rule and the Habsburg period; Week 5) Dutch uprising; Week 6) The beginnings of colonization; Week 7) Stadholders William II. and William III, the stadholder-free period and the Anglo-Dutch Wars; Week 8) The Batavian Republic and the French Period; Week 9) United Kingdom of the Netherlands; Week 10) Industrial Revolution and Modern Colonization; Week 11) First World War, the interwar period and World War II; Week 12) Decolonization and post-war era; Week 13) Recapitulation. The lectures are supplemented with visual material and presentations

Learning outcomes
In the lectures, students will learn the history of the so-called Low Countries (the territory of today's Netherlands and Belgium) from the prehistory to the present. This history is presented in connection with the history of Europe, emphasizing common aspects with the history of the Czech region. The course follows the compulsory courses History of the Netherlands 1 + 2 from the first year of the bachelor's program. The material is partially repeated, the course discusses key moments more detailed.
Knowledge of the history of the Netherlands and Belgium.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the history of the Low Countries. Active participation in the lessons.
