Course content
The rules of Afrikaans spelling. Communicative exercises. Listening to radio programs from Radio RSG Extracts of novels ranging from Andre P. Brink to Karel Schoeman.

Learning outcomes
Students learn to speak Afrikaans fluently. Students learn more complex Afrikaans grammar. Students learn to write essays in Afrikaans. Students learn the history of Afrikaans novels. Students read an Afrikaans novel of their choice.
The students will learn how to communicate basic ideas and needs in Afrikaans. The students will learn how to write the past and future tenses, negative and syntax in Afrikaans. The students will attain some knowledge of South Africa and the complexity of the language situation. They have to pass a test at the end of the semester.

Students must do set exercises. Students must attend all classes. Students must give oral presentations.
