Course content
|
The lessons are divided into theoretical and practical parts. During the 12 lessons of the theoretical part, the entire Dutch syntax will go through. Schedule of lectures: 1) The system of the Dutch sentence and sentence elements; 2) Predicate; 3) construction of the Dutch sentence, main word order and word order in subordinated clauses; 4) Subject; 5) direct object and prepositional object; 6) indirect object; 7) causal object and the "bepaling van gesteldheid" (adverbial clause of state); 8) adverbial clauses; 9) predicative complement, determination of measure; 10) attributes; 11) subordinate clause; 12) brief subordinate clauses. In the practical part, the students go through the chapters 5 to 8 of the Nederlands in Actie textbook with the teacher.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim is to give improve the knowledge of the students of Dutch syntax. Students will learn to determine sentences according to the Dutch-Flemish system, which is different from Czech. Special attention is paid to the issue of rection and word order of Dutch, especially concerning differences between main and dependent clauses. The practical exercises based on the method Nederlands in Actie are in line with the theoretical hours. During the exercises, the students also improve their practical language skills.

Prerequisites

Requirements to participate in the course Nizozemská syntax are: - Successful completion of Nizozemská gramatika 1 and 2 (first year), and of Nizozemská morphology (second year, winter semester) - Regular presence in the lessons (maximum 2 absences per semester are allowed; this applies to both the theoretical and the practical part) - Doing the homework (in moodle for the theoretical part, in the textbook for the practical part). - Taking both final tests (theoretical/practical) at the end of the semester. - Intermediate tests are also taken during the semester
