Course content
|
he course is divided in 12 lessons and recapitulation. 1) Beginnings and Middle Ages 2) High Middle Ages 3) Later Middle Ages and the Chambers of Rhetoric 4) Renassiance literature 5) The Golden Age 6) Enlightenment 7) The 19th century 8) The first modern movements: the Eighties and Van Nu en Straks 9) Beginnings of the 20th century and the period between the World Wars 10) The Second World War and the Fifties 11) The Sixties and Seventies 12) Newest period 13) Recapitulation In every lesson one to two texts will be nearer commented, if present, Czech and/or Slovak translations will be dsitributed. The presentations and the tetxts will be at disposition in moodle.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to give (in Czech) a survey of Dutch and Flemish literature from the beginnings (8th century AD) till present time.
Survey of the basic handbooks of Dutch and Flemish literature. Basic knowledge of literary theory and a survey of the history of Dutch and Flemish literature.

Prerequisites
|
Attendance in the lessons. The maximum number of admissible absences is 2.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance
Presence in the hours. A maximum of two absences is allowed. Study of the distributed texts. During the first year the student should read 20 books in Czech or Slovak translation. Every month two reading reports should be handed in.
