Course content
The Netherlands - physical, political and cultural geography, economy The Netherlands - state system, the royal family, government institutions, national anthem, the provinces, cultural and prominent political personalities Belgium - physical, political and cultural geography, economy Belgium - state system, the royal family, government institutions, national anthem, the provinces, prominent cultural and political personalities Dutch and Flemish painting, architecture and products

Learning outcomes
The lectures provide an overview of institutions, culture and geography of the Dutch-speaking language area, with particular emphasis on the main themes of Dutch and Flemish society: state institutions and the influence of the citizen on state management, tolerance as a cultural phenomenon, multicultural society, human behavior, organization of the society. The lectures are supplemented with slides, video and films. At the end of the semester, the students have to give a presentation on their chosen topic.
Get awareness of contemporary Flemish and Dutch society, acquisition of key knowledge of geography, culture, social and political events in the region, orientation on map without signs.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Student performance, Didactic Test

Oral presentation on any topic discussed by using technical equipment (Power-Point, Moodle) Written test examining the acquisition of knowledge of the discussed issues and colloguium (oral)
