Learning outcomes
The lectures provide an overview of institutions, culture and geography of the Dutch-speaking language area, in the summer semester mainly focusing on Flanders (Belgium). Attention is paid not only to physical and political geography, but also to cultural realities and economic situation. Current social events in the Dutch-speaking area are also monitored during the semester. During the lessons, which are mostly in Czech, examples from the recommended study literature and various videos are used. Students prepare powerpoint presentations on the chosen topic and make them available on the moodle electronic learning platform. At the end of the semester, basic knowledge is tested by means of a written didactic test, which includes, among other things, a blind map and examples of the most famous works of art. Then the students pass the oral exam (an overview of institutions, culture and geography of the Dutch-speaking language area), to which they will bring a list of the read literature.
Get awareness of key knowledge of geography, culture, social and political events of Belgium, with a focus on Flanders (the Flemish Region). Students also become familiar with the most important representatives of Dutch painting.
