Course content
|
Students get gradually familiar with basic orthographical and grammar rules of the Dutch language. Personal, possessive, demonstrative and interrogative pronouns are being rehearsed. Special attention is paid to verb conjugations of the most frequent Dutch verbs in the present tense (including modal verbs), existence of (in)definite articles, making plural forms of nouns, word order in a simple declarative sentence and to making interrogative sentences.

Learning outcomes
|
Within this course are the students gradually being introduced to the basic principles of the grammar system of the Dutch language. Main emphasis is put on the practical rehearsing and mastering of the basic grammar rules of the Dutch language and on their rehearsing in practical terms. Special attention is paid to personal, possessive, demonstrative and interrogative pronouns, verb conjugations in the present tense, creating plural forms with nouns, usage of (in)definite articles with nouns and word order in simple declarative and interrogative sentences. General orthographic principles of Dutch (among others through taking dictations) are being discussed, too.
Students get familiar with basic orthographic and grammar rules in order to be able to understand simple texts in Dutch and to make simple declarative and interrogative sentences.

Prerequisites
|
No knowledge of the Dutch language is required. On the other hand the students must have basic knowledge of grammar categories on a secondary school level and follow the course Language exercises 1 (NIZ/1JAZ1).

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Didactic Test
Carrying out homework tasks and other assignments systematically, being active during the seminars, taking interim tests, passing the final written test minimally with 75 % result.
