Course content
In the winter term 10 lessons have been planned: 1. Prehistory until the arrival of the Romans. 2. Roman era. 3. Franconian period. 4. Lotharingia and the Crusades. 5. Hansa and the period of small states. 6. Burgund dynasty. 7. Habsburg dynasty (Charles V.). 8. Habsburg dynasty II (Philipp II.) and the beginnings of the Dutch Uprising. 9. The Dutch Uprising untill the Twelve Year's Truce (1609). 10. The Eighty Years' War until the Peace of Munster (Westphalia, 1648). The remaining hours are a reserve.

Learning outcomes
A basic survey of the history of both countries fro the beginning to present day. The course will take place in the form of commented power point presentations. In the winter term we will discuss the history of the Low Countries from prehistory to the Peace of Munster (1648), in the summer term the history from 1648 till present.
After the course the students will have a good survey of the history of the Low Countries from prehistory up to the Peace of Munster (1648).

Written exam
