Course content
The aim of the course is to introduce possiblities of using GIS in the field of development and provide students with practical knowledge, sufficient for the application of GIS software.The subject focuses on practical skills with different GIS interfaces. Students are tought to use mainly QGIS. There is no previous GIS experience required, althought previous experience with IT is an asset. At the end of the semester students are expected to compile their own GIS project.

Learning outcomes
The main aim of the course is to introduce geographic information systems (GIS) to students and demonstrate its potential usage in the field of environmental studies and international development.
Upon completion of the course students are expected to have basic understanding of geographic information systems and be able to modify, analyse and visualise basic dataset.

For succesful completion of the course, students are required to complete a practical exam covering the course material.
