Learning outcomes
|
The course deals mainly with the environmental and socio-economic context of agriculture and rural development. Attention is paid to the situation in developing countries (malnutrition, agriculture in traditional societies, the role of women and children, urban agriculture, etc.), and topics affecting economically developed regions are also covered (EU Common Agricultural Policy, Farm to Fork strategy). A number of topics related to agriculture and nutrition link developing and developed countries and cannot be dealt with separately (e.g. land grabbing, international trade, and value chains). A part of the course is also devoted to issues related to the sustainability of the food system.
