Introduction to the Judicial cooperation in civil matters within the European union and its historical background, sources of law, sources of information (European judicial network, European judicial atlas) 2. The Brussels I regulation - jurisdiction of courts 3. The Brussels I regulation - recognition and enforcement of judgments 4. The European enforcement order (uncontested claims), workshop 5. The Brussels II regulation - jurisdiction of courts 6. The Brussels II regulation - recognition and enforcement of judgments, international child abduction 7. The service of documents within the European Union, The evidence taking within the European Union 8. The introduction to European insolvency law 9. European order for payment procedure, European small claims procedure 10. Maintenance claims within the European procedure 11. The influence of European civil procedure law on the Czech civil procedure law 12. Final conclusions, test

Learning outcomes
|
The course concentrates on the Community secondary acts adopted within the framework of judicial cooperation of the Member States in the civil matters, specifically those dealing with institutions of procedural civil law. The students familiarize with the content, relevant jurisprudence of European courts and impact of these acts in the national domain. The course will also cover the concrete procedure of the acts' application, including the introduction to the content of key forms, as well as the selected relevant information servers.
Students who absolve this course gain general overview about legal regulation of the European judicial space in civil matters and will be able to find an orientation in the this complex problematic. An additional value of the course lies in the fact, that attendants of the course will gain language skills and orientation in the special English legal terminology. The course gives to the student a comprehensive overview of the rules and institutes European Civil Procedure.

It is essential that those students who would like to pass the course must have attendance within the scope set by the seminar teacher and succeed in the colloquium.
