Introduction to the field. The difference between Czech as a mother tongue/second language/foreign language. Inclusion of pupils with different mother tongue (DMT). Didactic principles and principles in working with pupils with DMT. Inclusion of pupils with DMT in Czech language and literature lessons. Organisation and teaching of Czech as a second language. Curriculum of Czech as a second language for primary and lower secondary schools. Materials, textbooks, methodological guides and didactic tools. Training outputs.

Learning outcomes |
Students will gain insight into educating pupils with a different mother tongue (DMT). They will learn the basic principles of working with pupils with DMT, orient themselves in available resources and materials and deepen their competence in integrating pupils with DMT into class. Emphasis will be placed on inclusion of pupils with DMT in Czech language and literature classes and also on the teaching of Czech as a second language. The students will test their mastery of basic topics not only by discussing current didactic problems but also in a mock performance.
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: - define the basic concepts and principles necessary for the successful inclusion of pupils with different mother tongue (DMT) in class; - be familiar with basic legislation, as well as literature, available materials, textbooks of Czech as second language and other tools; - plan, prepare and conduct Czech language and literature lesson in heterogeneous class (pupil with DMT in class); - plan, prepare and conduct a lesson of Czech as a second language; - apply the acquired knowledge and skills in their teaching practice. |
