Learning outcomes
Course objectives: - After completing the course, students should be able to: - assess the importance of literary concepts in relation to the methodology of interpretation of an artistic text; - specify the difference between literary and didactically guided interpretation of an artistic text; - clarify the basic principles of interpretation of an artistic text, taking into account the age of the percipient; - justify the function of process of interpretation in relation to a work of art; - assess the composition and theme of the artistic text, express its meaning and purpose; - evaluate the uniqueness of the process of interpretation and assess the possibility of reception of selected works in relation to the maturity of students. Topics: - Principles of aesthetic reception and didactic interpretation of an artistic text. - Historical, social, cultural, demographic, ethnic, religious and personal influences determining the origin of an artistic text. - Integration of the chosen artistic text into literary movements. General analysis of the cultural-historical context of the chosen artistic text. - Classification, diversification and innovation of interpretive methods aiming to develop and determine the goals of artistic text analysis. - Genre, rhetoric and stylistics as part of the methodology of interpretation. - Theory of verse in the system of methods of analysis and interpretation.

The purpose of the study is to enable the student to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and methods. Student will write an interpretation of the chosen artistic text, justify the process of interpretation and defense the possibilities of interpretation and used methods. The student will write a) own interpretation of the artistic text; (b) provide a justification for the process of interpretation. During the oral exam, student will defend the conclusions presented in writing.
