Course content
Preferred genres in the reading of children and youth and their didactic potential in terms of the objectives of the RVP ZV. Current themes in contemporary Czech and world literature for children and youth. Literary text and its film adaptation when working with a young reader and viewer. The role of fiction in developing the axiological system of young readers. The potential of literature to develop the personality of a child and a teenager. Analysis and interpretation of selected literary works. Theoretical and critical reflection of contemporary literature for children and youth in professional journals and professional literature, or professional reflection of film adaptations of selected fiction texts.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course students should be able to: - to evaluate the current trends in contemporary Czech and world literature for children and youth; - assess the artistic quality of contemporary domestic and translational products for children and young people; - to assess the didactic potential of readers of Czech and world literature for children and youth; - analyze and interpret selected texts of contemporary literature for children and youth; - assess and evaluate differences in working with the literary text and its film adaptation when working with a young reader and viewer; - orientated in the available information sources; - to evaluate the current state of theoretical reflection of literature for children and youth.
