Course content
After introductury survey lessons we will focus on individual writers from chosen national literature. Structure: short commented portrait; selected work; analysis of literary problem or situation as a starting point or theme; literary context. "Variables and invariables" of European Romanticism (based on French, German, Russian, English and Italian literature); Realistic literary images in context of the time of their origin (based on French, Russian, English and Italian literature).

Learning outcomes
The course is intended for students who do not study literature within their degree programs and lacking contact with this type of art. In its introduction lectures will be conducted over the general topics such as explanation of the term "world literature" and to outline the concept of "world literature". Characteristics of major trends, movements and groups, periodization of world literature. Series of lectures are aimed at two major themes: a) Variables and Constants of European Romanticism (based on French, German, Russian, English and Italian literature). b) Realistic literary images in the kontext of period (based on French, Russian and English literature).
