Course content |
Literature for children and youth and its place in national literature. Folk tale, its incorporation into artistic literature, folkloristic fairy tale theory. Czech and world collectors and editors of fairy tales and legends. Author's fairy tale, typology. The development of the Czech and world author's fairy tale from the 19th century to the present, the most important representatives and works. Czech poetry for children from the end of the 19th century to the present. Authors of world poetry for children. Prose with children's characters, development tendencies, the most important representatives in Czech and world literature. Magazines for preschool children. Bibliotherapy. Picture books for preschool children, artistic literature for pre-school children. Triviality in children's literature. Prizes awarded for children's literature.

Learning outcomes |
After completing the course students should be able to: - to explain the specifics of literature for pre-school age children, - to clarify the role of literature for children in terms of the development of reading literacy, - to enumerate and characterize the genres of literature intended for preschool children, - to appreciate the work of the most prominent representatives of Czech and world literature for children, - to analyze and interpret the artistic text in the context of the author's creation and the time of its creation, - to formulate and present their own interpretation of the selected title of literature for children, - to focus on contemporary book and magazine production intended for pre-school children, - assess the quality of literary work intended for children.
