The course leads students to understand literature for preschool children as a cultural and educational phenomenon; it develops the ability to interpret texts didactically (including working with illustrations) and to select high-quality titles according to clear criteria. For work in preschools, it is essential to distinguish between intentional and unintentional texts, work with the concepts of implicit reader and the principle of indeterminacy, and apply selection criteria (age, thematic framing, linguistic quality, aesthetics, stimulation).
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: Explain the specifics of literature for preschool children with regard to cognitive and emotional development; characterize the basic genres of children's literature and their functions; analyze and interpret literary works for children, including the visual component (illustrations); critically evaluate and navigate contemporary book production; reflect on the value and aesthetic potential of children's literature in the context of school and pre-school education; propose appropriate ways of integrating selected literary titles into educational practice; distinguish quality artistic literature from trivial production. |
