Course content |
1. Construction of word form (morphematics: types of morphemes and their functions) and word formation (word-forming process: word-forming base and formant, foundation). 2. Parts of speech and their classification from the point of view of content and formal morphology (morphological and syntactic functions of parts of speech). 3. Nominal categories (characteristics, development tendencies). 4. Verb categories (characteristics, developmental tendencies). 5. General characteristics of nouns (semantic, morphological and syntactic properties); development tendencies of nouns from the point of view of contemporary language. 6. Adjectives, general characteristics (semantic, morphological and syntactic properties); escalation issue. 7. The position of pronouns and numerals in the system of parts of speech (semantic, morphological and syntactic properties). 8. General characteristics of verbs (semantic, morphological and syntactic properties). Verb forms (formal and functional properties). Verb classes. Developmental tendencies of verbs. 9. Formal and semantic characteristics of inflexible parts of speech.

After completing the course, students should be able to: - Understand the construction of word form and master the types of morphemes and their functions, including the word formation process. - Master the classification of parts of speech in terms of content and formal morphology, including their morphological and syntactic functions. - Understand the characteristics and development tendencies of name categories. - Get an overview of verb categories and their development tendencies. - Analyze nouns from the point of view of their semantic, morphological and syntactic properties, with an emphasis on their development tendencies in the contemporary language. - Characterize adjectives, including their semantic, morphological and syntactic properties, and understand the issue of gradation. - Understand the position of pronouns and numerals in the system of parts of speech and analyze their semantic, morphological and syntactic properties. - Understand the general characteristics of verbs, their semantic, morphological and syntactic properties, including formal and functional properties of verb forms and verb classes. - Analyze the formal and semantic characteristics of inflexible parts of speech.
