Course content |
Development of reading literacy at different stages of the child's educational path. The importance of reading for life, prerequisites for reading and skills of a schoolboy in terms of reading literacy. Definition of reading literacy and related terms. Reading comprehension. Reading literacy and the possibilities of supporting its development. Developing reading skills. Methods and strategies for developing critical thinking. International Reading Literature Assessment Programs - PIRLS and PISA. Projects supporting the development of reading literacy. The role of the school and the family in relation to the development of reading literacy.

Learning outcomes |
After completing the course students should be able to: - define the concept of reading literacy and describe development models and individual levels of literacy, - to characterize the PIRLS and PISA international literacy assessment programs, - characterize the process of understanding the text, - Understand basic issues of developing understanding of the text, - to acquire and to apply methods for developing reading literacy, - familiarize yourself with methods and strategies that develop critical thinking, - to create activities with regard to the interconnection of individual educational areas according to the RVP for the first level of elementary schools.
