Course content
Course description and content: Development of rhetoric from the Antiquity to day. Prolific rhetoricians. Development of the Czech rhetoric. Rhetorician and audience. Styles of spoken utterance. Kinds of utterances. Specific aids of spoken utterance. Discussion and its leading. The meaning of argumentation, (in)appropriate argumentation.

Course objectives: To explain the meaning of historical periods of rhetoric, To name the prolific rhetoricians, To evaluate the importance of the rhetoric today, To characterize the most common stylistic methods applicable in rhetoric, To distinguich between various kinds of utterances, To use proper language aids, To recognize the defficiencies in stylisation of utterances, To define various kinds of discussion and the principles of its leading, To define main attributes of (in)appropriate argumentation.
