Course content |
Subject 20th Century Literature 1 focuses on the cultural development of the first half of the 20th century. Based on the basic requirements of the Framework educational program for basic education and try to bring their thematic filling students of thought linking cross-cutting themes with literary texts, so that students are able to describe the development of culture in the first half of the 20th century accordance with cultural and educational, training and esteticko- the educational function of the literary text in the dimension of the perception of the elementary school pupil. We want students to understand through the selected texts of Czech and world literature of the first half of the 20th century how to fulfill the communication goals of literary education with respect to our present and to contemplate the work not only in his artistic ambitions but as a elementary school teacher. The course focuses on the perceptual component (the art gain from the text of information - artistic character, historical, social character) as well as on the productive component (creation of own opinion on the work and its defense). The course builds on the development of reading literacy and critical thinking of future teachers. Home and World in the Literature of the First Half of the 20th Century, the transformation of the theme in relation to the previous literary and social development. Life as a Game (avant-garde movement in the 20th century, poetism, surrealism, cubism, futurism, etc.). Literature and War (World War I and World War II paintings, local conflicts). Literature in the service of ideology. Life, Dream and the World (social and psychological themes in literature of the first half of the 20th century). Woman, Mother, Mistress - Images of emancipation in literature of the first half of the 20th century.

After completing the course students should be able to: to explain the concept of world, national or regional literature, to interpret the basic theses of "world" and "regionality" To list and define and interpret the basic trends of literature development in the first half of the 20th century, to discuss the issues of "experiments" in the field of literary and dramatic art, to argue in discussions about the artistic reach of a literary work, analyze, interpret and classify important works of the world and Czech literary context of the 20th century. illustrate social developments on specific literary demonstrations, argue in discussions about the artistic value of the work.
