Course content |
Literature for children and youth and its place in national literature. Folk tale, its incorporation into artistic literature, folkloristic fairy tale theory. Czech collectors and editors of fairy tales and legends. Myth and legend in literature for children and youth. Author's fairy tale, typology. Development of the Czech author's fairy tale in the 19th and 20th centuries, prominent representatives. Development of Czech poetry for children in the 19th and 20th centuries, prominent representatives.

Learning outcomes |
After completing the course students should be able to: - define the content and function of literature for children and youth; - explain the specifics of literature for children and youth; - to clarify the role of literature for children and young people in terms of reading literacy; - to designate and characterize genres of literature for children and youth; - to assess and compare the most significant folklore theories of fairy tales; -to evaluate the approach of leading collectors to folklore and its inclusion in children's literatureand youth; - to appreciate the creation of prominent representatives of the Czech author's fairy tale and poetry, to evaluate it from the point of viewthe development of these genres; -analyze and interpret artistic text in the context of the author's creation and the time of its creation; -taking into consideration the content of the subject to formulate and present their own interpretation selected title of literature for children and youth.
