Course content
Reading literacy and the possibilities of supporting its development. Conditions for the development of reading literacy in schools. Reading comprehension process. Developing reading skills. Methods and strategies for developing critical thinking. International literacy literacy programs - PIRLS and PISA. Projects supporting the development of reading literacy. Formulating questions and tasks that develop reader literacy on different types of texts. The basics of working with artistic and non-artistic texts.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)
Learning outcomes
After completing the course students should be able to: - to assess the conditions for the development of reading literacy in schools - to define the concept of literacy and to describe developmental models and levels of literacy, - to characterize PIRLS and PISA international literacy assessment programs, - to acquire and apply methods for the development of reading literacy, - familiarize yourself with methods and strategies evolving critical ideas, - classify and assess questions and tasks verifying individual levels of text comprehension, - Demonstrate the ability to formulate questions and tasks that develop reading literacy on different types of texts, - to create activities with regard to the interconnection of individual educational areas according to the FEP for the 2nd level of elementary schools.
